We’re back with a new playlist for April curated by Ruby & Matt from the 100 Club. Tune in for the best new releases and songs from some of the artists who have played, or who are booked to play, the infamous basement club this year – all mixed in with older favourites we can’t help but return to over and over again.
Ruby is the 4th generation of Hortons to run the basement club on Oxford Street, whilst Matt joined the team back in 2020 as the venue’s in-house promoter. Between them they know a thing or two about who we should be catching live and which tracks are perfect for getting us in the mood to go out.
Our playlist artwork, by Cameron West, takes inspiration from messy bedrooms, ahead of a night out. Flyers, make-up, a charging phone and the Fred Perry Shirt in Coral Heat polo – what else do you need!
Put this playlist on before your next night out – it makes the perfect soundtrack to get ready to. Plus, read more about some of the top choices for April below
O. – 176: O.’s imminent debut album comes out on June 21st. If you’re not familiar, ‘176′ is a good introduction to the weird and wonderful two-piece. With face-melting riffs from Joe Henwood and mesmeric drums via Tash Cleary O. bring a unique and intense punk-meets-jazz experimentalism to the table. Absolutely brilliant live.
Lambrini Girls – God’s Country: As Jeff (our venue owner) put it on Lambrini Girls, ‘I think it’s fucking brilliant. Best thing I’ve heard this year so far. Proper Punk’. They offer another must-see live show that pulls no punches. Their recent performance at the Club is a recent favourite from the venue.
BALTHVS – Sun & Moon: BALTHVS head all the way from Colombia to play the Club this April. Their psychedelic grooves draw comparisons to Khruangbin, and Sun & Moon is a typically toe-tapping bop from the three-piece.
KevTheVirgo – Happiness: Bonafide party starter from multi-instrumentalist and producer KevTheVirgo.
Floating Points – Birth4000: This is very much getting me ready for festival season. This will absolutely be the first thing I play when I’m on my way to Lost Village this year. You can’t beat Donna Summer x Floating Points.
Joy Orbison – flight fm: Joy Orbison has come out with another huge release. This can keep you going throughout the night. Definitely try to see him at any of his upcoming shows/festivals this summer
Pem – awe: A beautiful new favourite of mine. She has an amazing voice and I just play this on repeat. I haven’t had the chance to see her live yet, but I’ll be keeping my eye out for her upcoming shows.
