KOOL AS THE GANG
Kool as the Gang are a full 9 piece band featuring some of London’s finest Soul and Jazz-Funk Musicians. Kool as the Gang perform all of the biggest tunes from Kool and the Gang from the 1970’s Rare Groove Anthem “Funky Stuff” through to the 1980’s Disco Hit “Get Down on It“.
Kool and the Gang were formed in 1964 by Robert “Kool” Bell and his brother Ronald. Originally known as The Jazziacs, they changed their name to Kool and the Flamesbefore settling on Kool and the Gang. Their eponymously titled debut album was released in 1969. Their 1973 album “Wild and Peaceful” spawned three massive hit singles “Funky Stuff”, “Hollywood Swinging” and “Jungle Boogie” – the latter was used in Quentin Tarantino‘s 1994 film “Pulp Fiction“.
In 1979 the band started working with Eumir Deodato and lead vocalist James “JT” Taylor. The following years were the band’s most successful with a string of worldwide hits such as “Celebration”, “Too Hot”, “Let’s Go Dancin’ ( Ooh La La )”, “Ladies Night”, “Get Down On It”, “Fresh”, “Cherish”, “Big Fun”, “Joanna” and more.
